National Apprenticeship Week 2019

National Apprenticeship Week 2019

Posted 4th March 2019

It’s National Apprenticeship Week! We believe that young people can build good & positive futures with the right help and support. LHPs support young people into Education, Employment & Training.. one of many routes being an apprenticeship.

Autumn, an apprentice at the Oxfordshire Local House Project shared what an apprenticeship meant to her:

“As a child in care and an apprentice for the House Project I have benefitted and contributed. I give my team a young persons point of view and an insight of how our young people may be feeling. My confidence and mind-set has improved massively. I would not label this as a job due to it being such a rewarding and eye-opening experience. I thoroughly enjoy being involved in this project and I am very grateful for my team.

An apprenticeship suited me as I do not have all of the skills I need, however I feel uncomfortable working in a classroom all day. I enjoy organising my team and being appreciated for all of my efforts. This apprenticeship enables me to have more future employment offers as well as experience and a large range of skills. It may be confusing and stressful sometimes but as long as you have the right colleagues around you, you will always end up smiling. Always remember you are NOT “just an apprentice” you are a credit and huge help to your team.”
